Reactive Zoom Control while Tracking

چکیده
This paper presents a method for automatically adjusting the zoom setting of an active camera undergoing pure rotation so that it maintains the ratio of projected areas in the scene and image around the fixation point. We restrict discussion to planar objects, and exploit the properties of the two different interimage transformations which are observed — the infinity homography describing correspondences between points projected into the rotating camera from the static background, and the regular plane-to-plane homography between views of the foreground plane which can both rotate and translate freely. Results are presented from real imagery captured from an active camera in both snapshot and real-time operation.

Reactive Zoom Control while Tracking Using an Affine Camera
This paper describes a method for visual control of the zoom setting of an active camera during tracking. The method assumes an affine projection, and tracking is achieved using affine transfer, a process which is fundamentally invariant to zoom. However, the form of the projection matrices determined to achieve transfer allows the relative scale between the affine bases in different views to b...
متن کاملZooming while Tracking Using Affine Transfer
Zoom interacts strongly with both vision and control processes in an active visual system, causing problems for many commonly used tracking methods. This paper demonstrates the use of affine transfer to track while zooming, using clusters of corner features. Affine transfer not only is fundamentally invariant to zoom but also provides a natural mechanism to allow features to appear and disappea...
متن کاملZoom Tracking
In this paper we present a new active vision technique called zoom tracking. Zoom tracking is the continuous adjustment of a camera’s focal length, to keep a constantsized image of an object moving along the camera’s optical axis. Two methods for performing zoom tracking are presented: a closed-loop visual feedback algorithm based on opticaljlow, and use of depth information obtained from an au...
متن کاملRobust Feedback Zoom Tracking for Digital Video Surveillance
Zoom tracking is an important function in video surveillance, particularly in traffic management and security monitoring. It involves keeping an object of interest in focus during the zoom operation. Zoom tracking is typically achieved by moving the zoom and focus motors in lenses following the so-called "trace curve", which shows the in-focus motor positions versus the zoom motor positions for...

Resolution vs. tracking error: zoom as a gain controller B. J. Tordoff and D. W. Murray Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3PJ, UK Abstract During tracking, lens zoom acts as a gain between scene dynamics and fixation errors, providing a trade-off between maximising resolution and minimising tracking error. Using a linear Kalman filter model, it is sh...
